A new dining table for 16 people. The brief was that everyone should be able to comfortably see each other so that the table could hold one conversation. It needed seriousness & elegance, gravitas without ponderousness.

The design is a play on the ellipse; which was chosen for it’s balance, proportion & classic qualities. It is a pure geometric form with great subtlety, a shape with no visual weaknesses & an almost classical sense of beauty.

The extreme curvature of the legs & the fine extremities & angle of the legs puts great physical stress on the structure. The construction is a composite of solid timber over a stainless steel core, which makes the legs shape & fineness possible.
